Half the Story (1st Coup)

Coup, originally founded in April 2011 by artist Iulia Filipovscaia as a hopping organism of self-initiated exhibitions in private and alternative spaces, is a curatorial arm of The Wonderful Wizard, that supports the creation of unique, handmade, raw, found, vintage and recycled works of craftsmanship in all forms from what is. This may include garments constructed out of founding vintage fabrics, bio jewellery produced with natural materials that come from flora and fauna, artworks made with the use of recycled elements. The procurement of these materials must respect the sustainability concept reconciling economic, social, and environmental needs.

The Other Half, so far spanning over a decade, is a collection of the first frames of a 35mm film, that collectively form accidental narratives. Some have emerged from chemical errors, color errors, others from the absence of light, and lack of information on the film itself. However, all are births of each film roll’s photographic interaction with the world. They are a beginning and simultaneously an end of a journey.
