Adopting a Whale
It is Xmas time of gifts and presents. The celebratory atmosphere is in the air and if conscious consumerism is weighing you down, I got a solution for you.
If you had to choose who to give, then get Gaia a gift. Give back to her Majesty Earth for bearing the gift of life to You. This way you are investing into your future self in any shape or form. A timeless gift.
This December is when I came out by opening up my spiritual self to the world ( an integration of 2 sides of myself happened) and I claimed my abundance by putting myself in a mental and financial position where I said: I CAN and I will every month show my generosity to the planet of which I am an integral part. Why? Because life is bountiful in its wealth of experiences, people, animals, plants, places…etc
What did I do? I’ve adopted a Whale! Why whale? Let me first digest it into 3 scientific steps because of course your logical mind is doubting this already…
A whale is worth a thousand trees
Whales accumulate carbon in their bodies during their long lives. When they die, they sink to the bottom of the ocean; each great whale sequesters 33 tons of CO2 on average, taking that carbon out of the atmosphere for centuries. A tree, meanwhile, absorbs only up to 48 pounds of CO2 a year.
It is simple math, 33 tons (60 years) vs 48 pounds (1 year) > 33 tons vs 1.3 tons

2. 50% of all oxygen is contributed by phytoplankton this is 37 billion tonnes (40%) of all CO2 captured which is 4 Amazon rainforests’ worth!
More phytoplankton more carbon capture. And how does this relate to the whales you might ask, well those numbers are achieved due to them.
‘whales’ waste products contain exactly the substances—notably iron and nitrogen—phytoplankton need to grow. Whales bring minerals up to the ocean surface through their vertical movement, called the “whale pump,” and through their migration across oceans, called the “whale conveyor belt.” Preliminary modelling and estimates indicate that this fertilizing activity adds significantly to phytoplankton growth in the area’s whales frequent.’
I truly believe that is what will save us from the Eco Death! With all the solutions humans have tried to offer Nature has an answer - increase global whale population. What an exciting moment and fulfilment it gives me to be able to contribute to the Planet and our Future together with all its living organisms.
Whales are majestic and mysterious. Around this time in 2015, I made a work titled Hairy Orca in Muddy Waters that exhibited at The London Ultra 2018 in Oxo Tower. I have been concerned then but I only took action now. Don’t wait. Let’s do it together. Help me adopt an Orca Whale next month by buying this framed artwork or do it yourself here. If you are based in the UK, then you can either choose another species on the WWF website or you can open an online account in NY in seconds using Transferwise. The currency exchange is much better with them than your local bank.
My heartfelt belief is that whales have been telepathically speaking to us all this time, but only now we got the scientific proof. Why I say that. Well first, creating artwork is essentially channelling, second about 2 months ago, after a hard day of work I set aside time for self-healing by taking a bath and whilst in it, I was inspired to find whale sounds on youtube.
Do you know of my obsession with Water Consciousness?! It’s magnetic, almost lead like energy. Water carries information or memory, it is charged with emotion and given that sound travels so much faster in water it is a way better conductor than air. I recommend meditating in water, dreaming in water, drinking good quality water and so on. Water is the essence of life and whales are highly intelligent beings that represent that which lies underneath the surface, the subconscious or intuition.
Below is a Whale chatting with a human, a video sent by a friend and btw 180 decibels is as loud as a rocket launch. In the video, James Nestor talks about the clicking sound whales make (think drumming) that welcome into the pod, just like a heard of horses would, after synchronizing your energy with them. I had the pleasure of experiencing that but about that in another post. I believe a human can understand their vibrational communication, i.e. embody it. This meditative dance/sound using the best conductor - water, what we all are made charges and heats you up. It must be next level tripping, healing and all those things at the same time.
Here is another video that is trying to explain the science behind the song of the biggest mammal. It is so fascinating I keep watching it. I have this premonition that a much much bigger knowledge resides here. It is like whales are communicating on the highest vibrational level one can attain on an Earthly plain in an environment that is on par with cosmos - a liquid/metal/magnetic and weightless . Next-level stuff dont you think?
Watch this guy talk about his experience of freediving…
Funny enough I just went to Islington Choral Society joined with the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra to perform Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony, exploration of the oceans with the soul’s journey into the vastness of eternity. Beautiful. Listen to it here.
To recap:
After reading the UN report released in Paris May this year (2019) that we reached the highest mark of CO2 in the atmosphere and 1 million plants and animals are under threat of extinction, I knew I could not sit still any longer. When I saw one of my favourite and oldest (older than dinosaurs) plants that I’ve connected at Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam for the first time this autumn - cycads are that close to disappearing, I wept.
It is your call, but I can surely hear mine!
